Okay, I cried so hard at the BOOK Where the Red Fern Grows that I didn't dare see the movie. Oy.
I can't wait to see your blog--if you're half as funny as your wife claims you are, I'm looking at many more entries where my comment is "Dude, LMAO again."
Ok, how bad is it that I got Old Yeller and I've never seen it! I'll take the Phoebe from 'Friends' approach and pretend the pooch lived by turning it off 10 minutes before the end (if I ever see it). And I was forced to watch Where the Red Fern Grows in Jr. High. Oh, the trauma!
And ONE tear? ha-HA. We both cried for the final FORTY-FIVE MINUTES of "Dancer in the Dark." Tough, tough movie. Beautiful, but tough. And that Malkovich/Sinise version of "Of Mice and Men"...wow. I think Alex gets immune after repeated viewings, but I don't, because STILL, after seeing it forty-leven times, that scene in "The Color Purple" when the sisters are reunited...oh, gosh. I BAWL. And Judy!! I can't even listen to the SONG "Baby of Mine" from Dumbo without crying! Arrgh!
c.m. chase - My first commenter. The commenter by which all others will be judged. "sigh" You MUST Netflix "Dancer in the Dark." Now, I may have been a bit depressed at the time, but, it is one of the most viscerally, gut-wrenching and touching movies I have ever seen.
woman with kids - Of Mice and Men is definitely one of my favorites, too. But it's not all those rabbits fault. Those darn women in his life cause trouble, too. So sweet, so soft, so silky, so smooth, so..."crack"...so crunchy,. Oooops.
themikestand - Again, I loved Of Mice and Men. It is truly a powerful parable about the unfairness of human society. The vulnerable and innocent are impossible to protect from the powerful and cruel. In the end the movie expresses the highest act of love as murder in a grand finale of perplexity. Great stuff.
zeldafitz - Yes, Belinda is wonderful. She is the wind beneath my wings. Uggghh. Shiver Did I just channel "Beaches?"
stefanierj - I can still remember reading and seeing that film as a child. I think it was the first film that found its way into my little boy heart and touched it. Oh, and I am not really that funny. I just have Belinda believing I am funnier than she THINKS I am. So, it sort of works out.
duh-mention - Watch Old Yeller! As a matter of fact, I need to rewatch these two. You know, he really might not die like they say. Better check it out.
judy b. - Yeah, I held out as long as I could. The chant of "one of us. one of us. one of us." was just too much to bear. And technically I don't think this really counts as a Blog since I mainly only posted pictures.
celena - That's probably because Belinda is way smarter that I am. Sometimes I think she only keeps me around to be her big ole' hunky love slave.
jenb - yes, "Shawshank" always mkes me tear up, but it's different places on different times I watch it. Just depends on what mood I am in. Oh, and the fear of prison rape.
Color Purple, tear up every time.
I don't know if you can find "Dancer In the Dark" in your local video store, but Netflix has it. If you get you hands on it, just be prepared for a full emotional workout.

Look at me! I'm the first one to comment on your blog. FanTASTic first post! (No, you don't know me, so don't hurt yourself trying to figure it out)
I got all the movies but the Bjork one. Never heard of that one...will put it in on my Netflix.
Welcome to the land o' blogs.
Welcome to blogging. Of Mice and Men is one of favorite movies too... those stupid rabbits caused all the trouble, being so soft and all.
Good god, that scene in Of Mice and Men was powerful. I wouldn't have thought you could do something so good with such a short novel. Nice choice.
I got most of them except Of Mice and Men, the Bjork movie and Red Fern--huh? BTW, you wife is very nice.

Welcome to the blog world.
Hey Alex, I see Belinda has gotten you into the world of blogs! I'd say resistance was futile.
Old Yeller makes me cry just *thining* about it! Another one is when Dumbo's mother is holding him in her trunk while she is locked in the trailer.
Well I can figure out WAY more of yours than Belinda's. I'm a big movie fan, but just haven't seen a lot of the classics yet (working on it though!)

Um....yeah. That's it. Liarliarliar who can solve quadratic equations in his sleep while I can't do long division without a calculator.
welcome to the land of blogging Alex. I am the ten year old that tortured your wife for years.
Oh and the Color Purple, I am like a child who just had their puppy taken away. When they get back together, GOOD LORD.
Dancer in the dark just kills me... seriously makes me cry like a baby.
good job there, Alex... :-)
So crunchy? You kill me! (ha, I am so darn funny!)
i love The Shawshank Redemption and The Colour Purple very very much. Always excellent when I need to cry.
i haven't seen a dancer in the dark? i was suspicious of bjork and that swan dress. worth a rent though you say?

britt - And I am the one who ACTS like a ten year old who gets to torture her for 40 or 50 more years. heh-heh
The Color Purple, the LOOK on Whoopi's face when her sister comes back....excuse me...[sound of me blowing my nose]..I got something in my eye.
tony - Boy,it's a tough one ain't it?
woman with kids - You kill me!? We are BOTH so funny!!
